The Gospel of Jesus Christ
The Gospel, meaning “good news,” is the message of God’s love, justice, mercy, and redemption revealed through Jesus Christ. It is the story of how God restores sinful humanity to Himself, not through human effort, but through His grace.
God’s Design
God created the world and everything in it, and He created humanity in His image to know Him, love Him, and live in fellowship with Him. “So God created man in His own image” (Genesis 1:27). God is holy, righteous, and good, and His creation was originally without sin or death.
Humanity’s Fall
Humanity chose to disobey God, bringing sin into the world. Sin is not only wrongdoing but a condition of rebellion that separates us from God. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Because God is holy, sin results in separation from Him and ultimately death. “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23a).
God’s Love and Promise
Despite humanity’s sin, God did not abandon His creation. From the beginning, He promised redemption. Throughout Scripture, God revealed His plan to save His people—not through the law or human righteousness, but through a Savior.
Jesus Christ: The Center of the Gospel
In the fullness of time, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man. Jesus lived a sinless life, perfectly obeying God’s law. “He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in His mouth” (1 Peter 2:22).
Jesus willingly went to the cross, where He took upon Himself the punishment for our sins. “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). His death satisfied God’s justice, paid the penalty for sin, and demonstrated God’s love.
The Resurrection
Three days after His death, Jesus rose bodily from the grave, defeating sin and death forever. “He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification” (Romans 4:25). The resurrection confirms that Jesus is Lord and that salvation is complete.
Salvation by Grace Through Faith
Salvation is not earned by good works, religious activity, or moral effort. It is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. “For by grace you have been saved through faith… not a result of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
When a person repents of their sins and places their faith in Jesus, they are forgiven, justified, and made new. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
New Life and Eternal Hope
Those who trust in Christ are reconciled to God, adopted into His family, and given the Holy Spirit to guide, strengthen, and transform them. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
The Gospel also promises eternal life with God. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
The Call of the Gospel
The Gospel calls every person to respond—to repent, believe, and follow Jesus. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
This is the Gospel:
God saves sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, offering forgiveness, transformation, and eternal life to all who believe.
